Collection: PP (Flexible)
Polypropylene (PP) a commonly known thermoplastic polymer that operates in an extremely wide field of applications. PP filament has a high impact resistance and withstands high temperatures. Partly due to its lightweight and chemical resistance properties PP is one of the most versatile thermoplastics.
PP filament offers properties like no other.
Polypropylene (PP) is a common household plastic. Its resistance to chemicals and fatigue is what makes PP so commonly accepted. Its incredible resistance to fatigue means that so-called “living hinges” can be made. Being food- and microwave-safe, PP is perfectly suitable for the storage of food. For example, most food and liquid containers for take-out are from PP.
PP is lightweight and offers superb interlayer adhesion. Because of the fact that PP is lightweight, you require less filament to print a 3D object. This makes PP filament very suitable for printing storage and packaging applications. Furthermore, Polypropylene is semi-flexible and durable.
Whenever printing with PP it is important to treat your print bed properly. PP filament tends to warp when printing, but this can easily be avoided with the right tools. The use of a 3D printing adhesive will do the trick. EasyFix Adhesive - Nr. III is a 3D printing build plate adhesive specifically engineered for PP filaments. Next to that, you may use packing tape, like our LDPE tape, or a Polypropylene sheet. This tape will make sure that the filament will stick properly to the tape on the print bed. Another option is to replace your print bed with a PP plate.
Storage of PP
Whenever considering a good location to store your filament it is important to keep a few thing in mind. The best place to store a 3D printer filament is in a dry environment. Although, PP is not hygroscopic and doesn’t easily absorb moisture this is recommended. Because of this, degration by moisture is not something to be extremely worried about. However, always store the filament in a location where temperatures do not fluctuate too much.
Nevertheless, PP filament is susceptible to degration from UV light. UV light may affect the colour and structure of filament. Therefore, we advice to store the filament outside of direct sunlight.
Centaur PP filament
Our common Polypropylene is Centaur PP. This lightweight and high-performance Polypropylene filament allows 3D prints with a superb interlayer adhesion and features outstanding mechanical properties. Centaur PP combines a unique set of material properties into one 3D printer filament. Centaur PP offers a multi-functional material suitable for 3D printing dishwasher proof and microwave safe household articles. Next to that, it is also applicable for functional engineering objects with great endurance properties.
Luvocom 3F PP CF 9928 BK
Luvocom 3F PP CF 9928 BK is a PP filament with carbon fibers by Lehmann&Voss&Co. The added carbon fibers make the filament extremely stiff and suitable for industrial applications. Luvocom 3F PP CF 9928 BK is a low density 3D printing filament that displays good mechanical properties in combination with outstanding chemical resistance. Furthermore, this material offers continuous electrostatic discharge (ESD) properties. This combination makes it perfectly suitable for serial production of strong, stiff and ESD-safe end-use parts with an extremely high dimensional accuracy.
